You will select the entire image
Then select the want, and deselect the surrounding area of your subject (that is, if all your lines are connected)
From there, you would fill in your subject's space with a 'base' colour.
Please let me know if this helped or if you've allready found the answer lol

After you place the mask (It shoudl appear as blue) there shoudl be running dots (I call em ants) that helps keeps an image or the selection area isolated..
-Create another layer to put the skin on (Name it skin)
-Then on that later click the mark that says "Opacity Lock"
By doing this it locks the layer, allowing you to draw and colour in what is allready there :3

Tis fine :3
After you are done filling in your base colour, you then mask in what you hope to Shade.. if I remember correctly.. from there you blend yer colours and follow up with highlighting

The layering always seemed like the hardest part to me, as well as the blending of skin and hair colors, because I didn't know how that worked...so I always just wung it on one or two layers, but when I'm able to, I will try to follow the example you show through these tuts. :3

Hai hai :3 its best to split the hair, skin and clothes apart..that way you can isolate each part and colour it individually

Hahligirl56 In reply to PkingSora [2008-12-02 22:22:29 +0000 UTC]
That's a very good point...
I did have a problem though whenever I tried to isolate a certain part that not neccessarily all I had isolated with the dotted line was colored exactly the way I wanted it...like it only isolated fragments of it. It seems kind of weird, but I guess skill with these types of things comes with practice, no?
