Dren's pretty basic. After witnessing a wraith slaughter, he used to kill spirits painlessly, believing that he's "saving" them from being tortured. He's still insane, but less so. He's killed many wraiths, even jumped into nests and flushed them out! Just don't hurt Jade, and he'll be a good friend.

That IS odd! What's there to like about her? The only thing I can possibly think of is that she'd look (somewhat) cute as a baby:
