Description What if America descends into civil war? This picture imagines what it would look like to observers on LiveUAMap.

A lot of "Future Civil War" maps assume a simple Democrat vs Republican scenario. I believe that this is extremely unlikely. For one thing, both parties are actually quite conservative and agree on almost all things, even if they pretend to squabble over minor issues. If things began to move towards a serious conflict, it is likely that both parties would be on the same side in trying to suppress it. Instead, threats to the establishment will likely come from outside the two-party dichotomy.

:Map Lore:
Increasing discontent with state enforced anti-White discrimination continues to fuel White Nationalist anger at the D.C. government. Eventually this discontent boils over into political violence directed first against non-White minority-majorities and gradually begins to take focus against the government itself and large corporations that are responsible for the discrimination. Heavy handed crackdowns on the anti-government activists only lead to exacerbating the conflict as each civilian death only inspires more violence. Eventually the political violence evolves into organized insurgency. As the White insurgency grows in size and strength, their message finds resonance within the ranks of police, National Guard, and US Armed Forces, causing defections and sabotage on an immense scale. Ultimately, US security forces are no longer able to maintain their grip upon the country. First the rebels gradually drive the battered army out of rural regions, then rapidly seize control of vast swathes of territory as entire units of National Guardsmen and US Army defect to the White militias. These defections bring heavy weapons and even aircraft over to the rebel cause. The US security forces retreat in disarray, leaving behind even more equipment for the rebels as they retreat to more defensible front lines. There are several different factions with varying levels of cooperation. These factions are differentiated by different shades of green.

In tandem with the rise in White Nationalism, Latinos in America become increasingly frustrated with their lack of representation in the US government given their majority status in many US south-west states. Seeking political solutions outside the regular channels, many form links with Chicano Nationalist organizations such as Raza Unida, seeking to carve out a Chicano nation-state in the region formerly owned by the Mexican Empire.
As things deteriorate for the D.C. government, the state of Mexico begins taking an ever growing role in securing the rights of the Spanish speaking insurgents. Eventually entering the conflict directly, similar to how Turkey entered Syria to protect the Turkic rebels fighting the Damascus government. With the US Army in disarray from desertions and already stretched to the limit by fighting both overseas conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran while also engaged in battling White Nationalist rebels in the Pacific Northwest, they are rapidly forced back by the Mexican army and Chicano militias. Leaving only a few isolated strongholds under siege and supported by the air.

Black Nationalists likewise seize the opportunity to strike for independence. At first it is merely rioting over racism, austerity measures, and the perceived injustice of the declaration of martial law in US cities. However, with police depleted by desertions or deployed in anti-insurgency actions, the Black rioters quickly seize control of many U.S. urban areas and declare for independence. In the state of Alabama, the governor declares in favor of the Black rebels and unilaterally secedes from the USA. This sudden power vacuum allows many different factions to seize control including White insurgents in the countryside. Alabama becomes an ever shifting tangle of warring factions. Sometimes the Black and White insurgents work together against the government forces. Sometimes, they war with each other and even work with the US Army.

During the initial conflict with White Nationalists in the Pacific Northwest and Latino Nationalists in the southwest, the Mormon state of Utah remained a relatively peaceful region. However, as the various rebel factions gained an upper hand against the "Washington Regime" the state government saw the writing on the wall and secedes from the US, bringing with them many thousands of National Guardsmen and militias. The Mormon forces rapidly take advantage of the implosion of the US military situation to seize a great amount of territory for themselves. After a few clashes with the White Nationalist forces, the Mormon state and White rebels work out an alliance against the "immoral AND anti-White Washington-Regime."

This only compounds the military disaster experienced by the D.C. government as it leaves many more thousands of soldiers trapped far behind enemy lines with no reliable way of resupplying or extricating them. The rump state still ruled by the D.C. government is plagued by terrorism, blackouts, and fuel shortages as the underlying social problems that led to the civil war remain unaddressed in the remaining areas controlled by the Pentagon.
