This image is for the Halloween photo challenge URBAN LEGENDS in the MacabreDolls
group.

I chose the urban legend Molly Crenshaw which is actually a local one.

She has two distinct stories. One is that Molly Crenshaw was a witch that lived in St. Charles MO. A particularly horrible harvest season caused the villagers to blame Molly (who was a suspected witch). They banded together to kill her. They raised up with torches and pitch forks and drug the woman out into the street were they executed her by dismembering her into five parts. Each part was buried in a separate graves. The first legend says that every year those parts move closer and closer together trying to find each other in the ground.

The second legend is that Molly Crenshaw was a local St. Charles woman who possibly lost a child. In her grief she committed suicide in her home only to be unceremonially buried in the woods surronding them in an unmarked grave. The legend says that if you are in her woods near her grave site (or possible house) you will often see her ghostly form floating about in search of the child she lost. I went with that legend over the buried pieces.

I liked the idea of having her floating in the picture. I was also inspired by Silent Hill ghosts in The Room. The way they burn through walls and leave slightly scorched black marks in their wake when passing through walls or fences.
