Now, THIS is what Planet Eater Ghidorah should have looked like. They played him up as an eldritch abomination beyond anything our minds can ever comprehend......and yet he looks like a Servum mixed with a Porcupine in the movie. This design: it's so otherworldly. So inhuman, and horrific.I especially love the claw-shaped destroyah flight legs, and the open chest holding a black hole. It demonstrates how an entity like this is infact a harbinger of entropy, and destruction. The Golden Demise of all life. And you easily captured the unearthly essence of terror that toho mostly failed to do on their own.

Did you even watch the movie? The other two heads felt like they were just added so they could have a reason to call it Ghidorah

Did you see the vision sequences before his arrival?

Gidorah clearly had a body beyond the portals, complete with wings and forked tail, they designed it off the Servum models to show how it was a similar creature to Godzilla Earth.

I don't really get what you mean by that addition of heads just to call it Gidorah. I mean this whole idea is very much an artistic choice to show his much higher state as a god monster than G Earth, besides having a more asteral bodiless form resembling some other concepts of japanese dragons or serpents that descend from the heavens this subduing through snakelike constriction has always been what Gidorah monsters do.

Imagine if they didn't include his two other heads. Would you still be able to call it Ghidorah?
The movie were different for no other reason other then being different. Like when they made Godzilla Fat a plant. There wasn't a reason to make him a plant just like there was no reason to make Mecagodzilla a city and they was no reason to make Ghidorah a whatever he is. The characters are now competently unrecognizable.

That's like saying "Imagine if they didn't give Godzilla dorsal plates" of course they didn't want that, They never even considered it!

And for your information Godzilla has been a mutant dinosaur, an abomination of nature, a ghost possesed zombie and an ancient creature from the Permian.

THIS IS WHAT THEY DO. THEY REINVISION AND REDESIGN WITH EVERY MOVIE. GET WITH THE PROGRAM.

Now the creators goal for the anime series were to envision what if these Kaiju evolved further into the realms of unfathomable god beings that not even humans can hope to defeat.

And so Godzilla is an avatar of the earth, Mothra is an angelic spirit, Mechagodzilla is a living city that left unchecked could cyberform the planet, and Gidorah is a Lovecraftian harbinger of the apocalypse.

It really is not that hard to see the reasoning.

SIMPLY look into it, you see everything done in the designs have reason. Frankly the anime is extremely flawed, but the one thing it succeeds in is the monster design and to simply brush it off as laziness is insulting.

Don't even begin with that cliche' insult, Godzilla has always been FAT.  You fail to see his figure was based around Kongorikishi Statues, with the grace and power of sumo and his skin off sacred trees in Shintoism.

They made a point to make him look dignified and calm too, other incarnations had a real reptilian grimace to their expression, this one does not and has eyes that were modeled to be like a greek philosopher's.

Honestly.

"And for your information Godzilla has been a mutant dinosaur, an abomination of nature, a ghost possesed zombie and an ancient creature from the Permian.

THIS IS WHAT THEY DO. THEY REINVISION AND REDESIGN WITH EVERY MOVIE. GET WITH THE PROGRAM."

The difference there is that those changes added to and were parts of your respective stories. What was the reason for turn Godzilla into a plant? And what did they make him look like a fat version of the 2014 Godzilla?

"Now the creators goal for the anime series were to envision what if these Kaiju evolved further into the realms of unfathomable god beings that not even humans can hope to defeat."

Again, what was the reason for making Godzilla a plant other then to say "Hey! Look at us, aren't we different?"?

"And so Godzilla is an avatar of the earth, Mothra is an angelic spirit, Mechagodzilla is a living city that left unchecked could cyberform the planet, and Gidorah is a Lovecraftian harbinger of the apocalypse."

If we were to go by the movie's theme of anti religion that Mothra should not have been in the movie. I'm fine with Mechagodzilla turning into a city... if they did anything new and interesting with it. And did they really have to make Gidorah look like a noodle monster? Hell, he didn't even feel like King Gidorah. Sure it's a cool concept for a brand new and interesting character, but NOT Gidorah.

"SIMPLY look into it, you see everything done in the designs have reason. Frankly the anime is extremely flawed, but the one thing it succeeds in is the monster design and to simply brush it off as laziness is insulting."

WHAT REASON? They was no reason to make Godzilla a plant. And there was no reason to give Mechagodzilla the worst redesign of a character of all time.

"Don't even begin with that cliche' insult, Godzilla has always been FAT.  You fail to see his figure was based around Kongorikishi Statues, with the grace and power of sumo and his skin off sacred trees in Shintoism."

You think sumo is graceful? Um... Do I even need to say anything?
Also Godzilla Earth is expectantly fatter then any other version of this amazing character, I mean have you seen his belly? He can barley move, and even his roar is off. He's even fatter then Shin Godzilla. BTW at least Godzilla Earth kind of has a personally unlike Shin Godzilla.

"They made a point to make him look dignified and calm too, other incarnations had a real reptilian grimace to their expression, this one does not and has eyes that were modeled to be like a Greek philosopher's."

And you think that makes him a good incarnation? Giving him as little of a personality as possible?

1.  As I explained they wanted to make him godlike and the creator researched that of all organisms on earth plants sit at the top, and so Godzilla Earth was made out as a "World Tree"

and his extra girth is said to be based on the grace and power of Sumo.

Similar case with the Legendary Godzilla, its creators were designing based on animals, and with its realistic approach while preserving the King's power and "nobility" they based him off bears and komodo dragons. Very muscular and mountainous builds and so they look "fat" while in fact it is all muscle like a proper human weightlifter. (If you look into that there are two kinds of being muscular, there's one for show and the other for use, and as animals it is always in use and so they have that build).

These are the same perimeters that made the 1954 godzilla representing of the horror of nuclear destruction. Keloid scarring and unwillingly mutated background and all.

Again that is quite insulting. This generation of creators are simply experimenting with new concepts and angles to Godzilla as artists. As you can see this post millenium has a mutant abomination in Shin, prehistoric species in Monsterverse and now World Tree in the anime, and yet they are all godly.

2.  I mean she is dead and rebirthing at this point, so it has become a theme of faith as with some gods in religeon.

But the message of the anime was not anti religeon, its just how humans in their pride going to extremes lead to downfalls, the first was technology and science, the next faith and religeon. Its quite muddled but its there and a good try at existential horror.

3.  Its just expressions of art, its the whole charm of making giant monsters, I mean look no further than the artists around here, its an exciting path to explore and share with fellow fans.

4.  Creator's words not mine, but it is an old tradition there and a form of martial art.

Godzilla earth does have some form of intellgence, but owing to the god nature they go for, he is quite mysterious and distant from other forms of life and does things of his own will.

This is different from Shin who is more like a demon, it simply lives its existence of an animal organism that grows to adapt to its enviornment, it does not need to feel or think, just survive and conquer the land,  that is the horror aspect reimagined from the first movie.

5.  This design is simply an alternative, many more will come and Godzilla in the past has always been either vengeful, aggressive or grim but this one you could say has gained some peace of mind as he has attained godhood and just about nothing can break his calm.

Like even when he superheats his body its like some rumbling fury. There is like a composure to him.

Motherfucker what is there left to say?! They do it cause this is expression of thoughts!
THEY WANT TO EXPERIMENT NEW WAYS.

Its like saying why do you enjoy drawing dinosaur busts.
ITS INTERESTING. ITS DONE BECAUSE YOU HAVE PASSION FOR IT.

Y'know what? its a matter of opinion if you like a design or not.

But let me just say that everything done so far by the new creators has been done for reason and out of passion for the franchise that has been the heart of their nation for decades.

TheWatcherofWorlds In reply to JPGuchiha [2019-03-13 22:59:44 +0000 UTC]

But would you have ever thought of making Godzilla a dinosaur?

He was originally just a giant prehistoric creature alongside many living in the ocean until the bomb went off, suddenly mutated and becoming the last and first of its kind the original Godzilla attacked those it thought responsible.

It wasn't until the third movie in the Heisei series that they made this other origin of him being turned from a dinosaur living on Logos.

It wasn't until the Legendary Godzilla where he was made out to already be King over the world instead of just an accident.

And it wasn't until Shin that they delved deeper in what being a super organism meant.

SERIOUSLY, IT IS SO TRIVIAL A REASON TO HATE ON WHEN THEY CAN AND WILL KEEP CHANGING THE BACKSTORY TO BOLSTER THE PRESENT STORYLINE.

Its one thing if they mess up on showing the core aspects of the monster's character as in great size, strength, durability, dinosaurian physique, spines, long tail and atomic breath and origins. And we have a complete different monster in Zilla.

Its another if they pay tribute and expand on those set ideas to make new experiences. Which they have always strived for in Japan.

If you don't like one design it will literally be replaced by some other thing.

Its not like Superman or Batman's origins that have remained relatively static and defines who they are. Godzilla is a creature that stands above things, he is much more moldable and more of a title passed between movie universes.

Like how these western comics have alternate and parallel earths.

We could stumble on something great in the exploration.
