-Posted a high resolution image with more details
Gave up after so much detailing... (This one is only half the size of the working image). I'm not seeing an end to this. So I've decided to call it done. Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions for this one!
Two things I find weird with the overall composition: (1) Twilight's extended arm (2) The high contrast of the pool at the bottom center of the image

Posting because I'd like to hear your thoughs on how the city might work (at least visually).Β
I'll keep working on this and update when I have more ideas. Currently it kind of looks more like a small vacation resort or an amusement park...

i was looking for a good in depth city design for canterlot like this to use for my AU mlp fanfictions. could i use and modify this image with credit to you to show the areas of the city laid out how i want them for my stories?

i would just label the areas for reference on where my characters are during different stories. but im not sure i likeΒ it being on a cliff like it is might just draw my own crude crappy version of the city with the maptools i have on gimp

Oh wow! That is just... wow! I love the detail and the whole concept. It really draws on Canterlot's mythic links to the Minas Tirath in LotR and yet still remains true to the MLP-G4 aesthetic.
