Marerine West was first founded by mayor Bluebeard, who built it with in mind to make the town suitable for all three categories of ponies; pegasus, unicorns and earth ponies. The town was mostly known to be popular with tourists. Hundreds of ponies came each year to see the beautiful landscape and to marvel in the multi diverse town. Unfortunately, after the death of their beloved founder and mayor, the town began to slow in activity. The following mayors showed little concern over the town and as a result, the town lowered in number and began to decay. Ponies deserted the place, until it was left empty. In order to bring it back to its former glory, the town needed a big renovation. Some buildings could be salvageable, but most of them were beyond repair. Because of that, the pony in charge then, decided to abandon the town and leave it to its demise. Soon, it was erased from the Equestria world map.
After many years, the town was eventually inherited to a new pony, mayor Nicetie. At first, the town was said to have been placed for demolition. Though after a quick tour of the town, mayor Nicetie, instead of resigning the place, grew to adore it. The land was beautiful! Upon realizing this, the new mayor ordered for the town to be rebuilt. With all of the money he had, mayor Nicetie was able to rid the town of its non-salvageable buildings and other decaying obstacles. He did what was necessary, and thanks to his hard word, the town was successfully built back from its ruins.
Welcome to Marerine West!
All Locations
• Marerine Station :
This is where our story debuts. Marerine Station is a the last stop that a train will reach before exiting the town's map through the mountain and back towards Equestria. To avoid cutting too many trees, the workers have worked a way for the train to pass through Marerine town without much disturbance. The view is beautiful as the train takes you on a mini tour around the town. From the windows you will see the farmlands, the marketplace and the beautiful waterfall before entering a tunnel to only emerge from Smokey Mountains. The train doesn't continue into the Undiscovered West. The only way to access the town is by train, boat or flight.
• Ocean Valley :
The farmlands were named Ocean Valley due to their many hills and multi coloured grounds. Each patch of land holds a unique green colour, which cannot be explained. From a distance, the hills create some kind of 'wave' like look, giving more meaning to its name. Beyond the hills lays a few houses, well spaced out from each other, and a couple of barns. The land is quite fertile, giving the earth the ability to grow about every kind of fruit and vegetable. It's a great grazing ground for livestock as well.
• Marine Bay Market :
Marerine west's main marketplace. Ponies from all around town can open their stall and sell their merchandise. Farmers use the marketplace to sell their crops and dairy product. In rare occasions, auctions may be held at the marketplace.
• Brook District :
There used to be other districts other than Brook's, but unfortunately, the others were not salvageable and ended up being completely demolished. Districts are where residents houses resides. It's similar to a village, but much bigger. Houses can be customized and upgraded, giving the town folks all of the liberty to their comfort. It is also where most of the businesses and important monuments are located. It is also where unicorns prefer to live.
• Marine Library :
The town's main library is one of the monuments mayor Nicetie insisted on rebuilding. He made it huge, almost as big as Town Hall. He believes that every good town deserves a good library. He was also being a little biased when investing most of his money into the library. He isn't too proud of it, but he won't deny it.
• Town Hall :
Another place which required most of the money to be invested in. The Town Hall is Marerine town's main attraction. It is where most of the important matters take place, conventions, speeches, marriages, discussions and other types of events. It's also the mayor's office.
• Tides Square :
Tides Square is the town's square. It is where festivities take place. There's also a cork board installed there, for ponies to advertise their merchandise, requests or parties. There's a beautiful fountain in the middle.
• Coral Gardens :
The location used to be where the third district was located, but due to the large empty space that was left once it was demolished, the mayor decided to build a beautiful park in order to cover some of that emptiness. It is now known to be one of Marerine West's most beautiful accomplishment. There's a small spring where ducks and other birds come to swim in, swans are also said to be seen there on rare occasions. The park has play units in the middle and further down the path, a big flower field with a cabin in its middle. The sight is most beautiful during Spring.
• Orca Harbor :
It's a port where boats are anchored and secured whenever they stop by for either transportation purposes, or cargo deliveries. We can find a few stores there, including a small Fish Market, a storage building, The MarineTimes Motel and the MarineLife Facility where ponies who work with Ocean life do their research or rehabilitate sick and injured sea creatures. A small aquarium is open to the public in the center of the building.
• Sea Star Lighthouse :
The lighthouse is used to alert boats of the upcoming shallow waters and to inform them of their arrival to Marerine West's shores. You can see the city of Los Pegasus glitter during the night.
• Sundial Beach :
Not the biggest beach, but a very pretty one at that. The sand is quite pale and the water current isn't too strong. There are plenty of activity to do at the beach; there are swimming and surfing lessons, and small restaurants at your disposition. There's also an empty space where ponies like to use for sports activities or to simply lounge about.
• Urchin Hills :
The mountains can only be accessible by crossing a bridge or by flying over the river. Parts of the mountain were flattened to accommodate the display of some houses and other buildings. It made residential life up there possible. The wind constantly blows there and the clouds may some time engulf the highest part of the hills entirely, making it a magical experience as the sky remains clear above the clouds. This location is preferred by pegasus since they are quite comfortable with the altitude and the harsh winds that occasionally blows there.
• Sea Crystal Caverns :
When the town was newly founded, the caverns were filled with gemstones, diamonds and crystals. They covered the walls of the entrance, making it easy for ponies to collect them. After a while. ponies began to heavily dig their way inside of the caverns, taking as many precious stones as they could. As a result, the tunnels within the caverns grew more nice and quite difficult to navigate in. Signs and lanterns disappear and appear in other places of the tunnel, making it almost impossible to visit. Ponies that enter the tunnel quickly emerge out, confused and puzzled as the caves turns them back through the many twisted tunnels. It's a true labyrinth. Rare are those that make it to the depths anymore, the gemstones forever hidden within the unreachable tunnels.
