My first try at it was - I had originally planned to cut the whole design out of the solid lid, but it shattered. After I reassembled the lid and glued it back together with some more chocolate I just cut out the big hole and piped the lattice pattern, which was much easier.

Piped white chocolate patterns as a guide onto some sheets of acetate, painted blue cocoa butter into the spaces before pouring dark chocolate over them. When it got to be solid enough to hold its shape, I cut out the panels with a craft knife and let them set up the rest of the way. I re-piped the white patterns to make them 3D, cut a hole in the lid, and piped the open pattern in the top with the lid flat on parchment paper, so the paper could be peeled away when it set. Then, I assembled them using thickened chocolate as glue to hold it together at the corners, and piped more white chocolate up the outside edges to hide the seams.

Not anymore I'm not... yesterday was my chocolate final, and I'm on to bread until sometime in January.
