Ah right, chalk. Hmm, you've got gradients down-pat fairly well, from soft to light I mean, but you may wish to experiment with colour mixing. There's a lot of guides on this, but basically, add a tiny bit of cool colours (blue, green, etc) to shadows and warm colours (yellow, red) to highlighted places like the forehead or cheeks. It'll take some practice, I admit, but it can add a whole new dimension to your works rather than just focusing on light-to-dark for shading.

But hey, I remember the first time I tried it. Looked more like picasso than actual nice colours. XD Just take a stab at it and see how it works!

yeah and he's super cute in the end of the minnish cap manga!!   (but im the same weirdo who thinks vaati looks awesome as a giant flying demonic eyeball)

I had a shirt of him like that when I was like 5.. I never tool it off until I was like 8......it was awesome and made me feel unique because no one at my school had it.. well no one at that school knew who he was... but they were all bitches anyways! ^-^
