Description John Uskglass (aka The Raven King, The Black King, The King of the North, unpronouncable Faerie name, etc) from Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which I greatly enjoyed.

Aside from technical faults, I'm rather pleased with this (it was drawn for tone, anyway, not goodness).

But he should be younger and have more interesting clothing.

I love this too much for words: the simplicity of the style is v. in keeping with the tone of the character/book and his face is particularly stunning.
How the hell do you get it so perfect with so little detail?

I love this. I love the way half of his face is in shadow, it so perfectly describes the way Susannah Clarke wrote him.

Nice work.... also looks like Neil Gaiman's Morpheus, but then I imagined John Ucksglass to look like Dream anyway ... maybe thats where he disappeared to - our dreams. It was weird... after reading Strange and Norrell, every time I went to Newcastle I kept looking for signs of the Raven King in the architecture lol - and I remember I got really excited about the fact that my home town ("Richmond, in the North-Riding of Yorkshire") was mentioned in one sentence in the book lol

Awesome composition.

Nice job on the shading. I love the vines.

...and I think he's a very good Uskglass...there isn't enough detail to tell young or old, which is perfect for him, really.
