Time for another Arcana Crew mockup! I really liked how my last one turned out, so I decided to experiment with the style some more.
This mockup comes from the campaign of Rainy, a part-water-elemental sorceress from the shores of Naipuro Bay. I happen to be that one weirdo who believes swimming mechanics can actually be good, so her entire campaign is very heavy on water. Cascade Palace is a huge, waterfall-covered pyramid that almost completely covers the island it's on, and the first dungeon of the game. Its puzzles mainly focus on diverting the flow of waterfalls to create paths and wash away obstacles.
So, I really, really like how this turned out. The water turned out really well (especially since I haven't done pixel water in a while), the background is pretty, I did a good job limiting my palette, blah blah blah. Even better, though, was how quickly I finished it-- this whole thing only took me like a week! Working with smaller sprites and tileable textures saved me a ton of time. I think I might start doing these Arcana Crew mockups more regularly, just because of how time-efficient they are. So if you like them, stay tuned!
