It must be noted that the gens themselves don't harm, it's companies hoarding them which is the problem, good thing that terminator crops are banned.

I agree with the sentiment but I think collective vegetable gardens are a more effective solution. My family has an allotment and you will not believe how obsessive and competitive most of the other gardeners are. In fact two years ago at an allotment near Hull a gardener actually murdered his neighbour over a disagreement about Turnips. I wish I was joking.

If you're speaking of urban areas, I agree with you. Β Here in the countryside where I live, no one is going to drive or walk a couple of miles to tend to their vegetable patch when they can just walk outside their kitchen doors. Β That's how it is only my little farm anyway. Β But you're quite right -- a little friendly communal competition is a powerful inducement to keeping the patch weed free and looking good, and anyone who has ever done this knows that daily work in the garden, even a little bit, produces the highest yields at the end of the season.
