Superman, penciled by my buddy Andy (check him out here [link] ), and given to a friend for her bday. Done in Painter IX (75%), Photoshop CS (25%), and used photoref for the background.Pencils: Andy (lineart [link] )

Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well.
For those of you who say his hands are too big, you must remember that Supes is a pretty big guy. They don't call him Big Blue for nothin'.
According to his unofficial biography, he's 6 feet 3 inches tall and 225 pounds of solid muscle. If that's not big, I don't know what is.
This is a beautiful piece. You keep his proportions the way they are, thank you kindly!!!

I'm not going to lie to you, I do plan on asking a LOT of people to come and join! This site is amazing but you really have to dig through a lot of stuff to get to the really good comic related pics and it can be quite tedious. The crit forum at comicbloc is one of the friendliest and most supportive on the net and if you are any kind of comic fan, I guarantee that you have been entertained by at least one of the professionals who grace the site with their presence. Geoff Johns (who helps run the site) and Kurt Busiek will both be writing Superman in a few months and they post there fairly often so there will be a TON of Superman fans at the site in a month or two (as if there wasn't a lot already!)
If you do decide to join up, I'd totally appreciate it if you filled in "Brian LaBelle" as your referrer but please don't feel you have to mention me on the site or anything, it won't win you any points with anyone and joining is more than enough thanks for me. I will say most people there don't really dig having to click on links so if there's any way you can directly your post your pics there first and then build up a little following who WILL come check out the pics here, I'd recommend doing that.

looks phenomenal. the lighting effect from the back is nice but i think if you made the front of supes a bit darker (i.e. his cape) it'd probably had a bit more of a dramatic effect.
by the way, i'm going to be posting something soon that i'd like you to take a crack at.

i just had to comment cause i love superman and this was so nicely done. ill have to comment to your friend whom drew it...anyway the coloring is awesome..perfect more or less...the light comming off the sun on his back...the coloring in that specific part is just great

well im a big superman fan...so my comment is kinda biased, cause anything superman catches my eye.
but anyways this is a nice portrait. i love the pose of mid flight. though i have to say that, even that i know you did it purposely, im not too fond of the proportion of his body parts. love the background though.
