so yeah I recall watching the Super Mario Brothers Movie and this scene always gave me a chuckle.I know some people like to use 'Serif' as a surname for the skeleton family but I think that with Gaster erase from the timelines - Sans and Papyrus couldn't remember the surname so they went; 'so, want to use Sans?' 'well, you are older so I guess we can.'
Also Burgerpants made so much sense questioning this I just had to.

Like I told someone before, for me 'Gaster' seems more like a middle name or a nickname for the doc then a actual surname; plus Serif sounds oddly fitting for the 3 of them.

because while it maybe bad, there are some pretty funny scenes and it's good for a laugh or 2.
(actually the one scene with the surname is pretty much canon -Β Miyamoto pretty much confirm that Mario and Luigi's surname is in fact 'Mario'. While not revelant to the games that part about the surname is pretty much true.)

(Oh,I know the surname thing is true. Because they're the Mario Bros. Meaning their last name MUST be Mario. Like saying the ____ siblings means they're last name is _____ (Put whatever last name you think of in both blanks. It's just so hilariously bad. How about Consolas, since that's the font used in the Undertale notepad files (I'm not a data miner, I literally just looked a file so I could see the font)?

Personally I'm more towards 'Gaster' is like some middle name for him then a actual surname Wing-Ding 'Gaster' Serif rolls of the tongue plus Gaster seems more like a nickname for the doc too. 'Serif' just seems to fit.
