I think it has more to do with you being a traveler from a world that ISN'T in perpetual winter.
I can't picture a Texan Winter. Just like... rain, I guess.
So you have a sort of "Look, Maine. Summer is a thing, and I have brought it to you!" magical girl quality. You just need a wand with a sun at the end and little floaty wings. You'd make everything all dead from winter into lively summer things.

Everytime you open a door you give the first person you see a watermelon. Where'd the melon come from? You didn't have it before you opened the door. It just materializes as you pass through the arch and you're all, "Here, have a melon." And it's always seedless and never lacking in flavor. You don't even have to cut it, as soon as you set it down on a table, it just forms perfect segments. Perfect watermelons. From nowhere.
