Description
If you aren't familiar with the story of Hades and Persephone,the gist of it is this:
Hades is/was the god of the Underworld,and Persephone was the goddess of Springtime. Her mother was Demeter,goddess of the harvest. Hades fell in love with Persephone,and,being the tactful gentleman that he was,he kidnapped her and brought her down to the Underworld. He then tricked her into eating a pomegranate from his garden, because if you eat any food from the Underworld,you can't leave again. He also somehow forced her to marry him.
This caused a problem for the mortals above,since Persephone was the goddess of Springtime and without her,they were freezing and starving to death. Plus Demeter was just a wee bit pissed that her daughter had been kidnapped. So she went down to the Underworld and shouted down- I mean,ah, 'struck an accord' with Hades. It was decided that half the year,Persephone would stay aboveground,with her mother,causing the seasons and harvest. And the other half of the year,she'd stay with her hubby,which is when winter happens.

So yeah. This is my depiction of Persephone,purely watercolour on pencil sketch. I stayed up half the night painting this for crying out loud.
