Battle of Dolhobyczow - 10.XII.1918 - Polish-Ukrainian War 1918-19

II platoon, mixed squadron, 1st Light Cavalry Regiment (1 Pulk Szwolezerow)

At one point during this battle II platoon preformed a cavalry charge against in coming infantry attack. It was lead by 2nd Lt. Sokolowski and 2nd Lt. Szostak. Thing is they only had three sabres, those of the two officers and of pvt. Kosztowski, the rest only had cavalry carbines but order was "Charge" so they charged.

2nd Lt. Sokolwski - KIA
2nd Lt. Szostak - Was shot in the head and was unconscious, first they thought he was dead, but he managed to survive.
Pvt. Kosztowski and two other cavalrymen also died during the charge.

The whole battle was won and Polish forces took 39 POWs, as well as captured a single heavy machine gun and other rifles with ammunition.
