Description
I was actually planning to do a MLP: FiM fanfic centered on Mortal Kombat (sick idea, isn't it?), so making this select screen
from the very first MK game from the arcades will add on nicely.

Took me another 6 hours in Photoshop, made of compromising icons, background editing and vector placement.
In the end, I'm satisifed with the result.

ATTENTION!
The imperial court of immortals invites ponies of all styles to compete in a tournament of Mortal Kombat.

The contest will be held on the island fortress of Trixie located in the center of the lost sea.

Grand Prize:
Your continued existence.

Game-wise, the characters represent the following MK warriors (also added their special moves and Fatalities):

Twilight Sparkle -> Liu Kang

STORY:
======
As the dearest student of Princess Celestia, Twilight's magical capabilities are exceptional. Beliefing strongly in her abilities, she enters the tournament to represent Canterlot and the Princess herself. She despises Trixie for her pride and arrogance.

SPECIAL MOVES:
==============

Teleport Kick - Twilight appears right before her opponent and kicks it away.
Magic Ball - Sends an orb of magical energy at the opponent.
Telekinetic Slam - Lifts opponent into the air and forcefully drops afterwards.

FATALITY:
=========

Piercing Horn - Twilight pierces opponent's chest with her horn, then proceeds to channel magical energy through opponent's body, causing it to explode.

Rainbow Dash -> Sonya Blade

STORY:
======
Regarded as the fastest flyer in Equestria, Rainbow Dash seeks competition endlessly. Upon hearing about Trixie organizing a tournament, she immediately joins the fray in hopes of proving to everypony that she's the best pegasus. She also hopes to catch the attention of The Wonderbolts, seeing it as an opportunity to show them her speed and skill.

SPECIAL MOVES:

Rainbow Flash - Rainbow Dash fires rainbow-colored ring projectile at her opponent.
Air Drop - Used in air. Instantly drops at the opponent, dealing damage on contact.
Crash Into Hello - Flies toward opponent at high speed, dealing damage on contact.

FATALITY:
=========

Sonic Rainboom - Rainbow flies from the sky at sonic speed, zipping right past the opponent. The intense speed removes whole skin from the opponent, leaving only a bare skeleteon.

Applejack -> Kano

STORY:
======
A member of the Apple family, Applejack is never afraid of hard work. Due to many mischaps, her apple harvest didn't worked well, so she enters the tournament in hopes of winning a prize that could help her revitalize the Apple family business. It turns out that Trixie made these mischaps, adding another reason for Applejack to join in and teach that trickster a painful lesson.

SPECIAL MOVES:
==============

Apple Toss - Applejack kicks an apple toward the opponent.
Power Buck - Kick with her hind legs, sending opponent at the edge of the screen.
Lasso Grab - Attempts to grab opponent with a lasso and lure it to Applejack for a free hit.

FATALITY:
=========

Hard Landing - Applejack smashes her opponent into the air with immense strength. The force of impact instantly breaks opponent's neck.

Pinkie Pie -> Johnny Cage

STORY:
======
Parties being her entire life, Pinkie Pie never stands still and is always looking for an opportunity to make more parties. Hearing about Trixie's tournament, she signs up in hopes of having fun, meeting her friends, and to teach that meanie Trixie a lesson she won't soon forget.

SPECIAL MOVES:
==============

Gift - Pinkie tosses a gift on the ground - it explodes, dealing damage to opponent if close enough.
Balloon Shield - Negates opponent's projectile attacks.

FATALITY:
=========

Pinkie Sense - Pinkie's tail starts twitching rapidly, resulting in a flower pot, an anvil, a hay car and a piano to drop on the opponent.

Fluttershy -> Scorpion

STORY:
======
Always one with the nature, Fluttershy began to discover that the flora and fauna of Equestria are behaving unnaturally. Learning that it was Trixie causing the trouble, Fluttershy, although reluctant to hurt others, joins the tournament, hoping to save what she holds dear.

SPECIAL MOVES:
==============

Vine Whip - Fluttershy whips a vine at her opponent, trying to grab it. If successful, opponent is lured in for a free hit.
Butterfly Swarm - Sends a swarm of butterflies at the opponent.

FATALITY:
=========

The Stare - Fluttershy stares into opponent's eyes, paralyzing it. A few moments later, she calls her animal friends to wail at the opponent.

Derpy -> Raiden

STORY:
======
Working everyday as a mail pony, Derpy has been leading a modest life. It all changed when her daughter, Dinky, mysteriously disappeared. When Derpy found out that it was Trixie who did it, she enters her tournament, as a chance to free her daughter.

SPECIAL MOVES:
==============

Stun Bubble - Derpy sends a burst of bubbles at the opponent. If unblocked, bubbles paralyze opponent briefly.
Torpedo - Flies toward opponent at high speed, crashing onto it.
Mail Box - Slams opponent with a mail box.

FATALITY:
=========

Cross Trick - Derpy approaches opponent, looking at it with cross-eyes. A moment later, she grabs opponent by the mane and removes the head from the body.

Rarity -> Sub-Zero

STORY:
======
Known as the unquestionable fashion queen of Ponyville, Rarity believes that beauty and grace will triumph over brute force. To prove it, she enters the tournament organized by Trixie. It would also serve as a good opportunity to increase her sales as she would present her creations in between fights.

SPECIAL MOVES:
==============

Horn Charge - Rarity slams her horn into opponent, sending it away.
Scream - High pitched scream that briefly stunts the opponent.
Pillow Barrage - Magically sends pillows at the opponent.

FATALITY:
=========

Diamond Storm - Rarity conjures up several razor-sharp crystals and sends them toward the opponent. The crystals slice through opponent's body, leaving it torn to pieces.

Friendships aren't avaliable yet, you have to wait until the second game xD

I might do either the Street Fighter screen next time, or the screen for MK II
