Description This is the current flag of Turkey. Despite its ottoman origin this flag is recognized now as the flag of the republic. The red field was always dominant in ottoman symbolism. The crescent and star has probably byzantium origin but it was used at different places at a time. Turkish people came from middle asia to their today's country. Turkish people speak an altaic language. It is called Türk bayrağı.
