I made the whole thing out of polymer clay, Super Sculpey/SS Firm mix. It's kindasorta ball-jointed.

Well I mostly just winged it. (And failed.) I've done some bjd type projects before so I already knew the basics, but I still found this tutorial series pretty helpful: [link]

I guess it's a matter of knowing which parts to modify to better suit your needs. I wouldn't recommend using clay like SS, it's too heavy and fragile.

thanks a ton cuz i really want to have my puppets with ball joint bodies. other then sponge and wire XD i think over the summer im gonna expairament.
