Description     Since I've been running a contest, I figured I might as well enter a contest myself to keep the contest spirit going around~ I searched around for maybe an hour or so, not really knowing what I was looking for, until I found this one . I think it's because IT'S ALL PASTELS and I've never really drawn all pastels and stuff except for maybe Pastel Valentines  and Liz Go , so I decided I'd take the challenge and GROW AS AN ARTIST. You'll also notice that, for the most part, it's cel shaded and....the lineart actually looks better than most of my lineart does???

I'm really proud of those hands and foot~ It took a lot of looking back and forth between reference and drawing (which is hard with a small screen) but...I think it paid off? Don't get used to it. >.>

Also, I ended up liking the backroundless  version more, SO PLEASE LOOK AT THAT IF YOU WANNA SEE IT EVEN PRETTIER. And the lineart , in case you're curious~ Do not ask me how long this took to draw, it's embarrassingly long. XD

LAST THING: IT WOULD REALLY BE COOL IF I GOT A COMMISSION BEFORE SUMMER ENDED . THAT IS ALL.

Wow! I really like her dress!! And all the little accessories are so pretty. I wish I could buy them in real life because I would wear them!!! I think your proportions are very uniform and you've made a very beautiful composition.

Thank you so much! I sorta never know what I'm doing with clothing, and that's so nice of you! Proportions are something I seriously struggle with, so I'm so glad~

Oh you are so welcome! I can tell you have been practicing proportion though! You're definitely conquering your struggles!! And yeah, I love her little caped shoulders!

Ah, so you went with the bg-version (and linked to the bg-less version XD) after all! Well, it looks bootiful regardless ;D I loooove the colour palette. So soft and pretty And you should absolutely be proud of those hands and foot! They look fabulous!

Yup! Thanks~ I've been challenge myself with color especially recently, since it's secretly my favorite part of art (always has been), and I haven't tried something quite like this before...so I'm glad it worked out! Oh good, all the struggling paid off...ahhhh...

Given how many of my and Joy's sketches you've coloured, I can believe that
Hahaha XD It looks lovely!

Trruuueeee. I really enjoy that. Though it does mean my lineart progresses at a slower rate, oops...

Practice, practice... If you want, you could do the 60-second drawings on Posemaniacs.com every now and again to practice your anatomy.

Huhhh, I didn't know about that, I'll have to search it up! Sounds super helpful. And not too time consuming either.

NightmareSiren In reply to Porsheee [2016-08-18 22:13:55 +0000 UTC]

Yup! It's good for short little sessions whenever you want to get some practice in. It won't help you much when it comes to the weight of a figure (the muscle/fat is completely static, regardless of the figure's pose) but it's really helpful for anatomy and perspective.

Sometimes we should time how long it takes to write descriptions and graph that with how many different links are included haha ha.

I sense definite improvement on hands and feet and cell shading!!

Were the patterny thingies in her hair/clothes/wrist a brush?

Porsheee In reply to Sorcaron [2016-08-03 19:48:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, maybe...but we're too busy drawing, writing descriptions, and linking things to do that. XD

Thank you! I don't know if I'll cell shade much more, but I think it's more natural for me now.

Yeah, the same one from Blue

Thank you! Let me tell you, that lineart took me ages.

TheDoorWithin In reply to Porsheee [2016-08-03 00:39:03 +0000 UTC]

I believe it! I'm not even digital and lineart takes me forever. I spent literally all day working on a picture (because omg I have a sort of background??? For like the first time in history??? *cough*andit'syourchars*cough*). Either way, it was well worth it. I think she turned out so pretty, and it's cool to see how your art has improved! ^.^

Porsheee In reply to TheDoorWithin [2016-08-03 17:01:29 +0000 UTC]

I knowwww, lineart is such a pain. Especally in traditional, because if you use pen or something, if you mess something up...it's not getting any better. (SJhdjkhdjkhsdf BACKGROUNDS ARE HARD, I FEEL YA ) Ahhh, thank you! I think the reference sheets might have helped me be a little less intimidated about drawing more than a headshot, though those were slightly traced in places (while this wasn't at all). Cel shading did save time, though even if I have little experience with it.

TheDoorWithin In reply to Porsheee [2016-08-03 17:47:03 +0000 UTC]

Yesssss exactlyyyyy holy crap. (THE WORST. BANE OF ALL EXISTENCE). I think you did so well on those reference sheets :3 It's nice to see you draw more full body stuff! I don't know what cel shading even is...

Porsheee In reply to TheDoorWithin [2016-08-03 18:16:27 +0000 UTC]

This is why I've almost completely given up on traditional art. I just don't have the patience. (THIS IS WHY I AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. Well. Most of the time.) Thank you so much! I never really finished, did I? *slides away* Cel shading is like...Well, you've watched anime and/or cartoons before? Cel shading is where the shadows are (for the most part) represented by hard lines instead of soft shading. For example, this is cel shading , and this is soft/not cel shading . I hope that made sense, ahh...
