I ship them hard, and the fact that they can't be alive at the same time makes me want to weep.I don't usually do grayscale paintings, but this was amusing... and convenient, too. o_0
Used one reference photo. Ok, maybe two. I hope I'll make it in color when I'll figure out how to do it right.

That would make such a great and tragic paring, wouldn't it? Especially considering that the VS would have to live with the knowledge that his / her lover had to be sacrificed in order for him / her to live.
Ah great, now I have this scenario where the real reason why Kaidan or Ashley refused to step down during the coup at the Citadel isn't because he / she wouldn't trust Shepard, but because he / she wanted Shepard to take the shot.

Yep, this ship is completely doomed, but for some reason when I think of them together they're both alive and sort of happy, and their relationship is some kind of fling of two opposites that attract each other. Hell, drawing this even made me want to write something about them, despite the fact that I never was really into fanfiction.
Your idea about what happened on Citadel crossed my mind too, and I can only imagine how many changes this couple can bring to the main plot. A heartbreaking ship *_*
Back to your question, I've lost count how many times I've finished the trilogy (but I think it's something about 5 or 6), so both of them died and both of them sayed alive.
