Description
This was a costume I made for Halloween several years ago. Since then I have found several uses for it such as roman candle fights, air soft, and various other activity. This particular photo is from my friends MadMax/ Post-Apocalypse graduation Party. Congrats!!!The Helmet, gas mask, and belt are military surplus as is the jump suit that the armor is mounted on. The actual armor is made from old car mats that have been zip tied together.

I'm still in the designing process, need to get a scanner. But I'm trying to go for a style that is my own and that is proving troublesome. All I know is that the costume is going to have a fedora, a duster and a gasmask.

O man, im making a Fallout 3/Post-Apocalypse costume and I think I'm Definately gonna add some car mat knee/shina and elbo pads. Great Idea!
So far I'm gonna have the games blue jumpsuit, a military harness and a whole bunch of random stuff hangin off.

Right on, if you are going with a fallout theme then all of the military gear is a total plus. If you have some fire works left over from the fourth you can set those off on top of the mats. Leaves pretty convincing scorch marks. I have actually used that suit for roman candle wars, anyway good luck and I am glad you liked it.

I was thinking of burnin rubber on the floor mats and cutting em up and adding blood effects to em. Might look cool.

How, exactly, did you get the mats to stay on the jumpsuit? Did you cut little holes in the suit and thread the ties through them and through the mats?

That is exactly what I did, I scored little holes in it. Then I threaded the zip ties through both mats.

Seems almost like it would destroy the suit, eventually. Maybe if you reinforce the holes, it wouldn't? Hmm.

Amazing suit. I was thinking of some post-apocalyptic suit for Halloween this year but haven't had any ideas. This should help a bit, if you don't mind

No I do not mind at all, borrow as much as you like. If I could make one recommendation it would be to use car mats and zip ties. Coupled with some black spray paint it is unstoppable, the mats are also useful as armor come fourth of July.
