Description Osteoglossids are a small group of carnotherosaurs found mainly on Quellaka and Bukibuga, where they are small omnivores, insectivores, and arboreal browsers, usually flamboyantly colored.

Lofoughkillas are mainly terrestrial, living in dense tropical and temperate forests in the Eastern hemisphere. Males are usually brightly colored, with cranial and caudal ornamentation used in dramatic visual mating and threat displays.

Tree jumpers, or tree killas, are found only in the forests of the island continent of Bukis, feeding directly off of the trees and the occasional small invertebrate living under the tree bark, which they extract with an ossified tongue tip.

The osteoglossids are unusual in that early on in their evolutionary history they produced a clade of flying animals, the ensiferids, which possessed large stylets on the ends of their tongues, presumably used for stabbing and subduing prey. These animals enjoyed a global distribution for some 160 million years of history, but never reached sizes in excess of 5 ft (wingspan). Edit: why didn't I realize these probably wouldn't be able to fly when I drew this picture a year ago?

How do you know they're not? Or, on the contrary...

Sweet! I like the colors on the tree killa, it reminds me of mandarinfish for some reason.

BTW, osteoglossids are RL fish (they include the arawana and arapaima). But these are extraterrestrial, so that doesn't matter.

I know that. I actually mentioned that in the original version of this I put up, but I decided it didn't matter. Perhaps they'll be osteoglossids Γ under the Ramjetian system of exobiological nomenclature?

Lovin' it!
These wouldn't be that improbable in a parallel Permian rerun.

I haven't seen your artwork in a while!
The coloration patterns on on Lamnifera are really neat. The black markings go well against the red-orange-yellow wings.

Thanks.

This is actually pretty old, and there are some things I'd like to change, but alas, I lack the means.
