Many times I read or was told that people choose their favourites rather mindlessly and carelessly and therefore make faves practically worthless. I think otherwise; I choose mine very carefully and also value those I get equally or even more than comments (definitely more than short 1-2 word comments), because a fave means I somehow attach myself to the picture and I will want to see it again (when I go through my faves, obviously.
) I usually fave a piece when I can't bear I would never see it again, when I keep staring at it for a long time or when I keep coming back to see it. (Besides, I usually leave a comment if I decide to fave an image.)I also like the fact it stays in somebody else's faves and works there as an advertisement - and if you think I compete for pageviews this way, you are wrong. How is it different from featuring arts in journals? Everybody is dead happy when their works are featured while faves, which mean the same, are almost spat at. And what else are DDs for? Attracting attention. Faves have all these functions together.
Feel free to use in your journals, or at least tell me if you feel the same. Let's show dA the value of faves.

I have to be especially thorough like this when it comes to controversial stamps, or any kind of work of the sort. I need to make sure I understand the message clearly.
That and if I think something looks truly brilliant and isn't just some paint on a base, I may like it very much.

I believe that an artist should only fav what really strikes them. They'll learn more artistically by being picky. I also believe that people should comment on everything they fav.

I do think that faving should be done carefully, I tend to only fav a few pieces when I'm on but thats cuz I really like them. I always mean to comment but I hardly ever have anything constructive to say so i figure that it is still obvious that I like the piece since I fav it.

You know, I have one or two watchers that seem to fave everything I ever post and I don't like that, it makes me feel like they're only faving it because they're watching me rather then because they actually like it.
I'm very cautious about faves, I take the time to think about what I'm faving and if I really like it that much or not which makes my fave section kinda small but all of the pieces in it are, to me, gold. I wish more people would fave in this way. Of course I'm also all about leaving constructive comments too, none of that 'this is great' stuff, I want a reason! Comments *should* help us learn and improve and establish what works and what doesn't (I say should because half the uses here don't seem capable of leaving those sorts of comments ;_
Anyway, love the idea behind this, I'mma totally gonna use it and spread the love

I'm often the victim of Fave-bombers. It's always demoralizing when it turns out that they didn't really fave your picture because they liked it so much as because it was posted between 8:32 and 8:33 AM that day.
