Most people sell their art as the amount of points equivalent to the dollar amount.
250 points is about $3.13 so she is actually selling her sketches at a really low price, I think.
While 50 points or so might seem appropriate, in reality, that's about 63 cents. So, it isn't that the artists are forgetting about younger artists, it's just that most artists don't want to undersell their art.
And they should never ever have to. It just really sucks that Deviantart isn't more giving in how many points we have as a community. I wish they would give out a certain amount of points for doing tasks (ie if you watch a certain amount of people, if you comment on a specific number of art...). Then points wouldn't be so hard to collect and use.

Dollars are still worth more than our currency, the rand so it's x10 more money, but that's beside the point. I do wonder though if their cents worth and ours are the same.
It must be tough, trying to sell your art online when 50 points are only equal to 63 cents.
I feel ashamed for my earlier comment, as I have educated myself more.
Interesting ideas. I think it could work, but the comments would have to be constructive. More than just a "nice art", or many artists would be flooded with crappy comments.
Sadly, never gonna happen though....
