How do arrow fish reproduce and how can they bite without a jaw

They have external fertilization, so both males and females release gametes to water. Eggs are very small and numerous. Fertilized zygotes gather in clusters and then together grow into one individual, which is in fact a chimera en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_… Their youngs look similar to adults since they begin to swim actively, but are transparent and less elongated.
Most of them dont bite, just swallow prey whole. Crocodile arrowfish have sharp teeth on their lips, and use them to catch or cut flesh, but of course they cant bite as strong as if they would have jaw bones.

Arrowfishes what are more primitive but cognate to crocodile arrowfishes (like red tailed satelite) have teeth on the edge of their funnel shaped protundable mouth. Thats mean, unlike other arrowfishes they can use their protundable mouth not only to catch and swallow prey but also bite off pieces from it. Crocodile arrowfishes have more specialized mouth, because funnel has splitted into two lips with teeth on inner edges of it.
