Yeah, more fluffy Avatar fanart for today's doodle, haha. (This week is fluff week! lol)This is chief Beifong. You better not mess with her city! She's as awesome as her mom.

My favourite theory so far is that she was concieved through sheer willpower.

So far she's an ignorant bitch who thinks the whole world revolves around her and her position with her duty.
I think it's likely that she'll end up hating Korra so much that the Avatar's presence in the city might drive her to the brink of insanity. As a last resort, she might attempt to conspire with the Equalists to for an (uneasy) alliance to push out Korra from the city, or even kill her!

Because you completely disregard that Korra wrecked havoc on the city's streets within hours of her arrival and Lin was totally justified to be angry. She's just doing her Job - give her a damn break. Your other theory also doesn't hold much water because there are already some clips in Nickelodeon's commercials where she's seen helping Korra when the arena is under attack from the equalists. So year, you don't know what you're talking about.

Yeah true, but it still does not excuse her apparent indifference towards the past and why she's so uncompromising.

You have no idea how she grew up. What I get from her interaction is that she was struggling to be her own person and not just "Toph's daughter". She certainly got her temper from her mother so it's no surprise that she's reacting in a rather blunt way.
Tenzin also struggles with this but he has a calmer personality so he's rather embracing the idea of fulfilling his father's dreams for the future of Republic City. But yeah, you better not bring his mother into this! XD
Characters have a reason why they behave the way they do. Instead of saying (paraphrased) "She's a bitch because she doesn't instantly love Korra!" you should ask yourself why she reacts the way she does. Not everyone can instantly love the main character and to be honest it would be very very boring if everyone did. Lin and Korra need to learn how to work together to get the city under control and I really like that!

I won't be surprised if there was an instance in her childhood where she got into a fight with her mom about her wanting to be her own person and not just her mother's daughter. This might have reached the point which she pushed it and Toph slapped her.
That would explain a lot. But still, she has good reasons for being mad about Korra's mistake.
