I know Scar doesn't look as mean as he does when's older, but I always felt he wasn't always evil. Just maybe misunderstood (And why coudn't they just have his name as"Taka" instead of "Scar" -- it breaks immersion). Anyway, I wanted to draw a cub Sarabi but the canvas size was making my computer crawl so I had to leave it at this

Well Scar doesn't look evil here, but it's still him ! I agree with you, I think he wasn't born evil, he was just consumed by extreme jealousy as he was growing up :/ I think he was cute as a cub ^^ your drawing is perfect, even Mufasa looks awesome here

Well, maybe they named him for a feature. What if Scar was born with his scar? My friend was born with a really bad one over her eye and was blind in that eye. After all, "Simba" simply is the word for "Lion."

Isn't "Taka" the fan-made name for Scar? I like it, but I thought I heard somewhere that fans made it up, like the Kopa character.

I think so too, Scar has a fan-created (or third-party created) backstory. I think they also released a few books about young Mufasa and Scar.

Read the "Chronicles of the Pride Lands" series, books 1-4. 1 - "Legacy of Ahadi" is story of Mufasa's and Taka's life (it ends with death of Saraby, sry for spoiler), 2 - "The Spirit Quest" is story of Rafiki's life (includes Taka's and Muffy's stories), 3 - "Shadow of Makei" - dark spirit side of CotPL, includes hyenas, Taka's and Simba's stories. 4 - "Under the Acacias" isn't really about Taka, it's about Uzuri (hunt mistress in Pride Lands since Ahadi and til Simba's son reign). Also, you can read all 8 books (5th is really interesting, as 7th and 8th are, 6th is just about "what if Taka didn't had that scar and wasn't mean)

Yeah, it didn't exactly sound like Disney to make a good name and then use one like "Scar" in the movie, you know? Scar would be a good nickname, but everyone called him that, even when he was king. The Taka name is cool, though.

I agree,he wasn't always evil.Some would even say that he was possessed by some kind of evil spirit at some point,which turned him into "Scar".
