I always liked playing as the second player better (simply for the novelty of turning into a green werewolf after collecting all three orbs).

Honestly, there's a ton of cheap gameplay that makes it tough. You can easily get bounced around and take hits from multiple enemies and die quickly. I never would've beaten it if it weren't for the continue cheat.

I still remember being wild-eyed and impressed by the "Wize frum yur grave!" and other voice samples because it was way better than the "Dubble Dribbo" noise I heard on the NES. Great times indeed.

Now that I see this, I remembered the Werewolf the Last Warrior game for NES from DATA EAST, which had a special comic bundled with the original package, gonna try and bid for one on ebay to make a good drawing of it!! Excellent take, you should draw him doing the arrow dash attack, it would look pretty awesome.
PS: I´m doing my homework on Rastan to do a piece on the game like you suggested way back, been away too long!!

I remember the ads from Werewolf:tLW but I don't remember renting and playing it back in the day. But there were magazine and comic ads EVERYWHERE for it!
Be sure to enjoy Rastan's soundtrack as check it out. The music from the first stage is one of my favorite BGMs ever. Can't wait to see what you do from that!

excellent video game in its time! i remember playing when i was a kid at the local pizza parlor. they had two arcade machines there, one was altered beast. need 3 power ups from the white wolf monster to become this. excellent work you did here, friend.

I have great memories of playing this in our mall's arcade and getting a Genesis (Mega Drive) when Altered Beast came with it for free. I couldn't believe that all the talking parts of the arcade game were in the game cart!

Sega revived it with a PS2 game a few years back. It never made it to the United States though. You play some special forces guy that turns into a lot of the forms. Or something. It sounds like they leeched all the fun and weirdness out of it.
