Amy, I have been to West Kennett Barrow several times I just posted a few pics in my "Gallery". I also have a number of pics from Avebury stone circle and Silbury Hill (near West Kennett Barrow). Wiltshire seems to have a wealth of ancient sites (I stayed in Chippenham and Swindon with people I knew once).

I used to live in swindon, I know the Avebury complex very well and still have a huge amount of pictures from there

Did you see waylands smithy while you were there?  Its to the east of swindon, not the south but right n the ridgeway

I missed the Waylands Smithy. How far from Swindon ? Someone I know who lives in Calne (do you know where Calne is ?) told me there are a lot of Iron Age hill forts around there. have you explored those ? I also remember going up to Cirencester and walking around the old Roman wall.

I drove around the magic round-about

Yes, I know Calne well

Waslands smithy is close to the hill fort at Uffington, ten miles east of swindon.
Its about a half hour walk west on the ridgeway.

I live in Northumberland, We have Hadrians wall, a nice roman wall as well as a hill fort on a lot of our hills also we have a heap of stone carvings and other assorted ancient stuff.

I have a bunch of UK Ordnance survey maps (1:50000 scale) , and if I remember a lot of these sites are marked in the Ordnance survey maps aren't they ?

I have walked along part of Hadrian's Wall in the winter. It was freezing cold !

I also have some pics of Hadrian's wall "undulating" up and down the landscape (the Pennines I believe ?) and the large fort complex near the Temple of Mithras (I think the temple of Mithras was just discovered in the 1990s ?)

The temple is next to the brocollita fort, but you may have been at Housesteads (on the hill) or chesters (in the valley) if you were at a close by fort!

It's pretty nippy up there even in the summer, but the winter is so much more photogenic

I think I was at the Homesteads. It was a large stone fort complex right behind Hadrian's Wall on top of a ridge. There were these little English school children there in their uniforms and I got a kick listening to them chattering in their English accents

That fort is in such a beautiful location up on the egde of the Whin Sill.

I love the way the hills all look like ocean waves crashing to the north at that location.
