Description
The japanese giant salamander is the largest living amphibian in the world, with a maximum length of 4 to 5 feet long and weighing of over 100 pounds. These monstrous amphibians made a special appearance in the show River Monsters, when Jeremy Wade was investigating many deaths of children playing in the river. There are legends of a giant salamander living in the rivers of Japan, when children come to the river to play, they disappear, without a trace. It makes me wonder how big this salamander would be to swallow children whole.
