Existing during the Oligocene Epoch, this beast may resemble a giant horse, but it is in fact a hornless rhino. What's most notable is of course the animal's size; while the incompleteness of it's fossils make measurements difficult, estimates have put Paraceratherium at around 15 feet at the shoulder, putting it amongst the largest land mammals of all time (though still dwarfed by the average sauropod dinosaur). For the longest time, it's been believed that Paraceratherium and other indricotheres represented the upper limit of how big mammals can get on land, limited by the gestation process itself.
