The Great Lighthouse of Alexandria at dusk.One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it towered over the island of Pharos at the entrance to the harbor of Alexandria. It stood for over 1500 years, defying time, storms, lightning, earthquakes, and a tsunami.
