Description I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ALL THINKING!!! Why isn't he holding a teddy bear? It was tempting, I tell you, but I couldn't do it.


Okay, the first of the series for seven deadly sins. My first try at Art Nouveau, I learned some things:
a) I suck at doing backgrounds, so I dropped it halfway through (which is why it looks SO bad and SO PAINFULLY SIMPLE), so Ignore it.
b) Art Nouveau hates me...and I have SIX more of these to go *dies*
c) Celtic knots hate me as well. I am totally not creative at making backgrounds look good.
d) Some people like cheese
e) Never draw in the Childrens Museum in New Mexico if you can help it.

Grrrr...I am REALLY unhappy with how this turned out. The background is worse than I ever thought it could be. I thought it would be bad...but....it looks like a circus thing. Omg, I hate it....grrrrrr.....The background is too messy, busy and COMPLETELY takes away from the central figure which wasn't great in itself. It's too late to erase it, though, so I'm stuck. I guess you can learn from your mistakes, though...*sigh* And there's no other way I'll learn without trying.

I may color this, but if I do, there is a slim chance I'll post it.

Okay, I was thinking of how to illustrate Avarice and keep the concept. I wanted to make him all like "ALL IS MINE!!! BWA HA HA HA!" but I ended up making him look like he's hugging himself. *sigh* oh well.

Gah, the more I look at the background, the more I hate it.

Okay, a little bit about Avarice:
He's not greedy or mean at all truly, it was just...seven deadly sins...okay, never mind.
Age: 129
Hair: Light brown
Eyes: Blue-grey
Wings: Turquoise and Black


Okay, that's enough. I'm really beginning to hate the background to death now....grrr....

Okay, next up is Envy, I suppose. I will try to do better on her. If you are still able to type after seeing this (your eyes may be burned out), comments are very much appreciated on this.

I should have just left Avarice without a background. *shakes head*

God, you are such a good artist! What might look like crap to you looks amazing to a lot of other people .
The background is cool in it's simplicity and the pose is just smarmy (in a good way) X3. because IT RAWKS.

It doesn't look bad. The only part that bothers me is the ends of his hair. It's too much like the background and it looks way way busy, and not remotely like hair at all.

It's horrible, and yeah, that's an attempt gone wrong. In art nouveau sometimes the hair behind the back flows out flatly and is supposed to blend into the background, crisscrossing and whatnot, it looks sort of like netting and not like hair...but I didn't acheieve the effect I wanted at all....*dies* Sorry, I can't stand this picture...but thanks for the comment!

I love it!!! omfg, this is so good! His hair is awesome! And his arms are so well proportioned! AND HIS LEGS!!! AND THE DRAPERY!!! I tell you, unless you've actually TRIED a drapery, you don't know how hard it is. And this came out so good! In all honesty, I wish I could draw like this. Like, sure there's a bit wrong with his head/horns, they look a bit elongated or something, but it's hard to notice. His tail is so well done, and the leg/foot that's out front...and his arms!!! I just can't get over how well-done this is. Seriously, I can't say enough about it. This is so good. The background is great, Avarice is done so well...what I find amusing is that the beads he's holding looks like a rosary, and he's supposed to be one of the Seven Deadly Sins...and there's a Celtic background! It's so awesome! I can't wait until this sketchbook is full, so I can steal it! It's so good!

Wow...._O: You are overwhelming me with complements. His hair was coming okay for me, but then I killed it because of my madness to try Art Nouveau....*dies*
Are you sure? I didn't spend any time on this body, it just sort of came and I left it that way. I was worried about his arms but decided to leave them. His legs *grin* yeah, I was drawing them, but I hid them with the mighty pants of doom, which are my saviors...*loves the pants which allows Pronk to remain lazy and not draw legs* Ha ha ha, the drapery is so mediocre, I was going to detail it but just decided to make it as simple as possible. I've tried drapery, believe me I have. And as you can see, it never comes off well for me. The folds and movement of the cloth on the body are the most important things to remember, but I never get it quite right. *sigh*

You wish you could draw like THIS? The background killed it....it's all dead now. And that's the problem with my scanner, it elongates things a bit. But yes, his head is a little angular or something, but I just left it, because I'm lazy. His horns were driving me crazy, but I just left them the way I sketched them out first. His tail was the only thing I liked before, but now I don't like it anymore. It's all messy. I'm trying out different standing positions, but the leg was a little bit foreshortened, and I had to give him balance somehow if I want him to look okay. His arms....I think I spent the least time on him overall on him. His head and body I just drew out so quickly, I just assumed it was wrong as usual and cleaned it up. I drew it in the Children's Museum afterall.

You make me feel so special, omg, I don't deserve all these complements. THE BACKGROUND *fumes* takes EVERYTHING away from the picture...I...hate...it....so...much. The background was thrown together sloppily in a desperate attempt to do celtic knots and be creative. It's painfully simple...horribly simple...*dies*

And you're right! I don't know why I made him holding that...maybe because he truly is good, but I don't know, I was just letting myself draw whatever and the beads came out. I was going to draw some sort of draped shirt or whatever, but alas I was too lazy...too many folds. It's a poor exuse for a celtic background. And it'll be a while, Avarice took up Page 16 of 400. Honestly, you're too nice to me....

His hair looks great! I love the netting-type thing you did with it behind him. Yeah, no, it isn't netting, but that's the closest comparison I could think of. It, like, crisscrosses diagonally or something. I don't know, I suck at description. No I don't, what am I saying??? O.o

His body and arms and legs are wonderfully proportioned, whether you tried a lot or not. And the drapery is not SIMPLE by any stretch of any imagination, even one so vast as mine. It's wonderful. And the pants are great, too. ^^

I loved the background! I would love to draw like this! Seriously, I would KILL to trade our art abilities. But you can't have my writing ability; I need that to express my feelings before I butcher something. So his head and body...hehehe....ballerina? Vampire? No; it's both! :Eats small children:

The background is great, Pronk, leave it alone. If it is simple, it looks terribly complex. Good luck making something look MORE complex.

16/400. I can't wait for 17/400!!! omfg, can you imagine how awesome Ominous will look on page 400?! :squee:

His hair...that netting thing killed me...gah...Envy's hair is going to kill me because it's longer, but nobody's hair kills like Ominous'. Grrr. Sorry, it took a bit. It's supposed to be more flat, and the hairs are supposed to be all crisscrossed, but it didn't turn as well as I wanted it to. Oh well. Really? You mean I actually drew a body in less than 15 minutes that worked? Wow.

The drapery is extremely simple to me, I was trying for more movement, but got lazy. The pants were done for laziness purposes.

The background...so messy...so terribly simple and messy...I was hoping on making Envy's complex. Just to try it out. I don't have art or writing abilities...*dies*

I just had this thing pop in my mind...Vampire + Ballerina = Demon...
Sorry...it was just so funny...omg....And I hope he'll look okay on pg. 400. Maybe I'll be okay by then. And yeah...17/400 is going to wait for just a bit. But I shall start her soon, then Vain...

I love his hair! And I can't wait to see Envy's. Ominous's hair is sooooo pretty, though...we've had a discussion on that already, though, haven't we? Anyways, the hair looks great, the crisscrossedness maybe could have been done better but it looks fine anyway. And the body looks GREAT, let alone WORKS.

The drapery is God of Draperies. I wish I could draw like that...you sent me that image, so I might get better at it...

The background is great. We've gone over this already.

Ballerina + Vampire = Demon...omg...SO HILARIOUS!!! That's great. Ohmigosh. [link] . I so want to write to write about that now!!! Maybe I'll do that for my Kleenex-Fans contest entry, which is due...when, again? You'll be great by 400, and take your time with 17, as impatient as we get to see it.
