Another cover art commission for ! These are their characters, Sebastian (Vamp) and Jack (human).
Been awhile since I drew a scene with rain and this kind of lighting. I think the last one was back in 2016, so Im a little out of practice, but I think I see improvement~ Playing with some new lighting techniques again, if you couldn't tell. Also, I have a serious thing for drawing fangs and snarls! I really need to draw more monster-y fanged... fellas more lol

Isn’t it hard drawing rain? With all the extra colors (obviously darker shades of the original color you had) and just the shading....I don’t know, to me it seems really difficult. Nice job though! Really well done!

It is! Im still trying to figure new or better techniques in doing so. Lighting it always a bit weird, just because you need to remember water is reflective, so it's always a lighter shade of the already established background and characters. So really, its making every color you see lighter, then adding the reflected light hue (Grey-blue here) and darkening up the soaked and non-reflective areas. Rain is not easy! lol

But I'd just like to point out that the contrast between Sebastian's detailed teeth makes Jack's lack of teeth stand out a lot. My point is he looks like he has nothing but gums.
Although, I know that sometimes adding teeth to a human mouth can make the area a bit cluttered or doesn't really show the expression you're going for so it's easily forgivable in my eyes at least.

Thank you! I actually agree with you full-heartedly. I was thinking about the drastic contrast between the two as I posted it, too, so I can see where you think it looks like he has nothing but gums. I'll probably go back and ad a row of teeth, since I think I can at least add the bottom row without it being too cluttered and deter from his expression. That way it will at least keep the idea that his mouth is being pulled by fearful expression instead of a snarl.
