British Petroleum says the clean-up of the gulf oil spill is complete. US government would appreciate it if you continued to eat the seafood caught in the gulf. Oil prices are on the rise. An investigation into the causes of the disaster have released results and were greeted with little attention.Oil and tar-balls are still washing up on the Florida coast. Many people claim to be ill. Speculators can justify some rise in price, but not the rises we have seen. No one in government appears to have considered taking on any of the recommendations of the investigation to avoid another disaster.
We will have no cause to act surprised or outraged when the next man-made disaster occurs...
(BTW, is the political art section gone? Or am I missing it?)

Bah, obviously they would SAY it's okay to eat. By the time people know what's going on, the people in power now will be leaving office with their pockets lined with blood-money.
Government can only work if it holds the illusion that something can be gained for nothing, while in reality deferring the costs to the next schmuck who get's elected, and the next generation of citizens.
This is the simple fact of using a coercive system to manage society.

oh, lovely piece. Yeah, if the people in charge really cared about anything this would have never happened. Maybe this was planned, there are other alternatives other than oil, and if they dug for oil in the US, then we would not have the spill in the first place. Wonderful piece by the way.
