i just can't get one thing fixed. whnever i zoom in to check stuff out the 3d fractal gets chopped/cut away and i can't get very close for a good picture. if there was some way to fix it so that doesn't happen i think i can continue.

Try using the '3D navigator' to move around inside your fractals, it automatically avoids 'cutting' the objects. V1.5.3 onwards has this feature, v1.6.3 available now [link]

I have 1.6.3. I didn't even know there was a true 3d nav for it. All i know of is render and move without 3d and hope for the best. Also is the "cutting" thing something you can turn off?

'3D Nav' is at top left corner of the main interface.
