Description Psygris
(Mentalifelis pseudopanthera)
PSYCHIC/FIGHTING
Evolution: Evolves from Eevee + strong friendship + in daylight + holding a Quick Claw

Psychic type Pokémon are a mysterious bunch, known for their high intellect and incredible extrasensory abilities. In the EeveeVerse, psychic energy has now been properly measured with "psypips" as units of energy and "psychic capacity" for how much space a Pokémon can store in its psychic organ to perform spells like telekinesis, levitation and mind reading. Psychic organs bear a striking resemblance to gemstones and many Pokémon have theirs virtually welded to their brains. Some, however, have their organs in the outside like Grumpigs, Starmies and of course, Espeons.

In the curious case for the Psygris however, it does not rely much on psychic energy in spite of its Type and instead... physical feline attributes. These large brawny relatives of Espeon are much more primitive, being holdovers from the Pleistocene epoch. As such, they have many convergent similarities to that of pantherid big cats like leopards, tigers and jaguars, as well as notable protruding fangs like that of the saber-toothed machairodonts. These adaptations make Psygris very efficient predators capable of enduring various climates.

The psychic capacity of a Psygris can hold up to a mere 100 psypips, and they spend 30 percent of it on a notorious shifty spell when hunting for prey. Cloaking. This allows the beast to become completely invisible as it creeps up towards an unsuspecting target like a Stantler, Tauros or any unsupervised livestock Pokémon. One close enough, the Psygris then strikes and pins its prey to the ground, delivering a fatal bite to the neck and shaking vigorously to kill it. Though they are very powerful hunters, it may not be entirely safe for them to dine on the ground with potential rivals and scavengers afoot, so a Psygris will drag its kill up into a sturdy tree much like how a leopard would keep meals safe from thieves.

Psygris make for very loyal companions and fearsome warriors when under proper ownership of a trainer. To evolve one, an Eevee must meet the same evolutionary requirements as that of Espeon, except while holding a Quick Claw. Eclipse Castle in the Jotho region once had noble Psygris under ownership of the lieges in the past, along with the equally impressive Umbarghests. However, once the great Sorin's Espeon and Umbreon helped protect him against a nasty takeover from his rogue brother Luno, warrior beasts were ousted from the Castle in favor of their smaller and friendlier cousins. Today, the Psygris are driven further and further away from their royal legacy as they have to endure poaching, habitat loss and competition from stronger Pokémon.
