Description This is something i did almost a month ago. its an almost 2 inch watercolor painting of what has become one of my all time favorite movies..

The Secret of Kells!!!!

I've come across a lot of fan art from Kells on DA, and this painting is by far the best. You have been able to keep within the style and feel of the original character and still be able to give Aisling and Pangur Ban your own particular flair. You did a wonderful job.

Well the compliment was justly deserved So many of the other fan art I came across were depicting the characters as anime or looking a little too much like something out of a "Kim Possible" episode. There was a reason why these characters were depicted the way the were in the film. It was obvious that you studied the film and that it meant a great deal to you. Also, your piece showed that you are a talented artist because not only were you able to translate the look of Aisling and Pangur Ban, but you were able to leave your own personal mark on them both AND bring in some lovely water coloring to the mix. The water color was just the right touch, because it added the texture that you saw again and again in the film but you didn't let it over power your drawing. I love water colors, and I love this movie. Few films have touched me the way "The Secret of Kells" has and the scene where Aisling sings to Pangur Ban into his etherial form sent a chill down my spine and caused me to weep. You brought that memory back for me with your painting, which is the sign that you are well on your way of becoming a great artist; the ability to touch the hearts and minds of the masses through your talent and skill. Please keep up the good work, and I'll be watching what other treasures you bring forth.

oh wow! i will say that there are quite a few beautiful pieces of fanart out there, but i try my best to do my own thing and see how it goes. so it means such a great deal to me that you spent the time to let me know that I did something here that might be nice to look at. this movie is something that i think only brings people inspiration, and its so nice to meet people here that feel the same way i do. If i had the time, I would do much more fanart of this movie, since there is just so many beautiful scenes to draw from

I LOVE that movie. Like so so so so so much. Hahaha. This is a wonderful watercolour piece. I am due to draw some much needed fan art for this movie. Gawsh I love it so. Love the outline in blue. I can't believe you did this in 2 inch quarters. I'm so jealous. Hahaha.

Something about this piece is so...fresh! And the lines, I have to agree with Kati, are very precise for a watercolor work. How you do that, I have no idea, as I'm not a painter. And now you have me curious about this movie as well. Amazing work my dear!

I didn't get to see it, I'm still bummed about that. There's only one or two theaters in town that show indie movies and they never play animated ones for very long.

I am still so jealous of how precise you can make your watercolor lines! I'm severely anal about getting lines perfect, and watercolor (and paint in general) frustrates me a lot because of that. To see someone else do it so well makes my hands itch.

aww really? yeah, the show times for this film were pretty short, maybe a couple of weeks at the most. When it comes out on Dvd i would highly recommend renting it i have a feeling you might like it!

im sure you can see just how shaky my hand is anyway, haha, but thanks!! i definitely try my best when i do something tiny like this : D

Man, I'm planning on buying the heck out of the DVD when it's available and I have money for it. I adore good animated films, and this is no exception. Plus I kind of love Aisling's eyebrows. MORE LADY PROTAGONISTS WITH INTENSE EYEBROWS.
