Description We've made it to the end of another year! The end of another decade as well, but I'll probably try putting together a different collage for that.

Normally I reflect on last year's art resolutions and see how well I did but I'm behind on my New Years picture so I'm trying to be quick with this. It seems like most of what I wanted was to just draw more fanart and whatever else I wanted, which I feel I did alright with? It's still a bit of a struggle to let myself be free with my art again but I feel like I'm making progress. I'll get there!

For next year, I guess my goal is to continue trying to use light sources more, at least get SOME background practice in, but at the same time indulge myself more often and draw whatever makes me happy. I know last year I said something like "background practice is kind of a constant goal at this point" but this year I want to try to make an effort to ACTUALLY draw a background! But yeah, most importantly make more progress on the draw-what-I-want goal.

Let's see how that goes!

Hoorah!

The colour scheme is nice...
Hm hmm hmmm... I can't see a change from last year as far as colour use or shading or line art or art style.

Your expressions are great. I can really feel the characters' moods. In your pictures of couples you've created a genuine sense of intimacy, such as the image with Riley's mothers and also in the image of Riley with his mother.

You do anatomy pretty well, as shown especially in the May, September, and November images.

I also like the contrast between each character and their background. I think the colours you've chosen compliment the focal points in this way. If I had to choose specific examples of this, I'd say July, October, November, and December.

I like the shading in August, September, and October. The colours you've chosen for shadows are subtle yet these characters come to life.

I can feel the weight of the fabrics you've drawn for January, March, and June. The way you use line art alone to contour these clothes gives an idea of how they fit the characters' bodies and how the fabrics might feel in general.

What a fabulous year!
Good on you, mate.
