Today in 2004, long before the brony phenomenon, two Japanese rock stars, with their money-grabbin' manager, jammed their way onto Cartoon Network and into the hearts of music lovers all across America. Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, the show about the J-Pop girl duo Ami and Yumi, along with their manager Kaz, was, without a doubt in my mind, one of Cartoon Network's greatest shows, and similar to the My Little Pony fandom today, there was one for this show too, and I was part of it, if you hadn't guessed by my screen-name. I blogged about this show endlessly on TV.com and posted screenshots from the show on Photobucket, as well as written my own detailed summaries of each episode and even fanfictions. I even own both of their tie-in video games: Kaznapped for GBA and Genie and the Amp for DS. Because of this show, I saw the real band in concert twice and even got to meet the real Kaz manager! By 2005, Puffy Power ruled the country, even getting their own falloon during the 2005 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! And of course, I own a lot of their US-released music albums.

But enough of my fanboying. In this picture, Ami and Yumi are rocking out at a concert, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their show with Kaz, their cats Jang Keng & Tekirai, their number-one fan Harmony, and, in a special guest appearance, their pilot counterparts before their final designs on the show ! I hope Cartoon Network still acknowledges this show's existence and puts it up on Netflix or Hulu for today's audience. Happy 10th Band-iversary, HHPAY!
