Description Oh geez, where do I start?

Well, I first came across this heart-stabbing news last Saturday night while checking GoNintendo.com news articles, and as soon as I saw it, I thought this was too sudden and crazy to be real.  But, as I looked up more and more on this, I did indeed realize this wasn't some bleeper's sick joke, even though I still wish it was.  I became majorly despondent and depressed for next few days, and just like many other fans like me who've done so on DeviantArt, I myself have made this tribute picture to Satoru Iwata, probably Nintendo's greatest asset since Miyamoto (we'll get to him later).

I first saw Mr. Iwata's name in the credits of my first N64 game Pokémon Snap, and while it didn't really catch my eye during most credits sequences in my Nintendo games back then, Iwata contributed to a whole bunch of them even before he became president.  Super Mario Sunshine, to me, seemed like his biggest debut as big-wig to the big N, but I have to admit, I kinda took his contributions for granted...until 2005, when I saw my first E3 press conference on my E3 Access DVD.  I still remember him bragging about his victory against Reggie on Super Smash Bros. Melee, as well as revealing the Wii, then called Revolution.  Ever since then, I've paid as much close attention to him as I did with Miyamoto and Reggie.  He always made me optimistic about what Nintendo games were coming out, even if some of those announcements were disappointing to some other fans (I am actually one of the 10% who's looking forward to Metroid Prime: Federation Force).  When he started his Nintendo Direct appearances, he made me realize that, like Miyamoto and many of us who've been playing Nintendo games sine childhood, it doesn't matter if they look like they're for little kids, because there's a good reason for it.  When we play them, we FEEL young.  We FEEL happy.  We FEEL like we're actually in the magical realm we all believed existed as kids.  Nobody embodied this better than Iwata, as he and his team clearly had a REAL fun time making those little gimmicks in the Nintendo Direct videos, like Robot Chicken in 2014, that 3DS promo video in 2010, that battle between him and Reggie during the introduction of Miis in SSB4, and most recently, his Muppet Show fun with Miyamoto and Reggie this year.  And if you ask me, his Muppet Show was the perfect note to go out on.  Even though he was suffering a very deadly illness, he was still dedicated to making gamers and non-gamers alike smile and making sure Nintendo was the perfect escape from the harsh tribulations of reality.  All while he himself was having fun.  If that isn't true Nintendo magic, then someone Falcon Punch me to make me see what is.

The photo of the rainbow gracing Nintendo's Japanese HQ had to have been a final farewell from Iwata across the heavens, so I've remade it here along with the spirit of his Muppet form.  I'm happy Shigeru Miyamoto is temporarily co-heading the company at the moment, but despite him being my main idol and hero, he's going to have a REALLY hard time replicating the devotion, hard work, magic and love Satoru Iwata put into each and every Nintendo game during his lifetime.  Nintendo, as a global company, may never be the same again, and at age 55, he left us WAY too soon.  However, if we all take time to truly appreciate what he did for us, we can look back at those times we sprayed away paint with a water pack or turned into a twilit wolf, and have him to thank.  If it hadn't been for Iwata, I probably wouldn't be the happy-go-lucky, artistic, enthusiastic person I am today.  So let's all take time to say this:

Please understand...you will be "directly" missed.

SATORU IWATA

Iwata was the greatest man in videogame history. He helped out Nintendo through hardships. I hope he rests in peace.

Thanks a lot. In my opinion, when Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World and Star Fox Zero are launched, I hope they put a memoriam to Iwata during the end credits of at least one of those games.
