Miss Cristina Vee is only celebrity number one I'm giving a good-luck drawing to at this year's con I'm attending; the gamblin' Boogie Man himself Ken Page is coming too! As such, I've gone all Disney-inspired once again and made this pic celebrating his spectacular career in both film and stage!

The subject matter I think has some of the darkest implications going on in the scenario: King Gator (All Dogs Go To Heaven), Oogie Boogie (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Audrey II (Little Shop of Horrors) are wearing the duds of three Disney princesses' fathers (King Triton, Maurice and the Sultan) and impersonating them in front of their daughters. Given that Twoey, Oogie and Gator all have voracious appetites in their productions, what do you THINK happened to Ariel, Jasmine and Belle's real dads?...

Now that I think about it, why do I keep putting Ariel in more mature situations in these pics? Oh, and yes, I am aware of Ursula's VA Pat Caroll passing away recently. She was a brilliant actress herself and she'll be missed dearly.

Sniff...okay, I gotta stay focused.

Unlike my usual character cels I used colored pens for the outlines instead of just black, to capture the feel of the Disney CAPS character modeling, and for the background I modeled up the Cinderella castle used at Walt Disney World and the Disney Pcitures logo at the start of their movies 2007 onwards. Also, I know Ken Page didn't play Audrey II in the movie--Levi Stubbs did--but the two do sound almost exactly alike anyway, plus Page DID play Twoey at the Muny stage production of Little Shop of Horrors , so this kinda counts! Page also played the roles of Triton, Maurice and the Sultan during some stage productions of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin as well, and that's what gave me the idea to make this pic. The dark subject matter in the pic matches up with the over-the-top, delightfully frightening characters Page plays, almost like the classic Little Red Riding Hood gimmick taken up threefold. A fitting tribute to such a fantastic singer! Oh, and about the way I depicted Belle and Oogie Boogie...
