I've seen this character of the masked bird in other works. Does he have a story or a meaning to you? He's so mysterious and somehow a little, maybe like an archetype of some sort that I can't quite put my finger on. He makes me very curious.

I just really, really love the way the rough texture of the brush on the left turns so effortlessly into the form of trees. I know it's deliberate, but there's such a fine line it continuously crosses between 'brush stroke' and 'trees'. I think it's my favorite part of the whole painting.

Thanks! It's a combination of accident and deliberate. Capitalizing on what textures the paint and brushes make on their own by enhancing and adding detail.

This one is especially lovely, Steph. It reminds me of a foggy day in the woodlands above Drake's Bay and a couple a couple of places in Washington state. I like the way you are carrying on the theme of the masked "bird".
