Description
This year's gingerbread project. The cookie itself isn't exactly gingerbread; it's more of a vanilla cookie with Sour Patch Kids flavored icing (the red, blue and green stuff - the icing used to put it all together is regular royal icing). The kit came with two small packs of Sour Patch Kids, Christmas lights hard candy, sour sugar and all the different types of icing. We bought extra Sour Patch Kids, sour gummy trees, starlight mints, and marshmallow trees and snowmen to decorate. And let me tell you, it may look really simple and easy, but it was not for me. I actually found this much harder to build than a regular house as this is a different shape, and I find that four walls and a roof is much easier to work with than putting a vehicle together. After much frustration and having to take it apart and start over the next day, my mom and I managed to put it together as a team, and I think our hard work paid off. The decorating was much easier than building this darn thing, and I'm glad it's finally finished.  Next year, I think we're just going to stick with the basic gingerbread house. -_-

If you're wondering what's happening in this scene, the Sour Patch Kids are camping in the woods for the holidays. Two of them are stringing lights over both sides of their camper, while one is busy building a snowman and another is putting lights on a Christmas tree. My mom suggested using the mints as hub caps/wheels on the camper, as well as making a border around the tray/cookie sheet we used for landscaping. I also made wreaths out of red and green lights and added a few sour gummy trees and a short string of lights to both the back and front of the camper as well, but since this picture only shows the side view you can't see them. :/ We used shredded coconut, powdered sugar and the rest of the sour sugar stuff for the snow. Even though it's technically edible, it's only meant for decoration. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and everyone has a wonderful holiday season this year!  Oh, and that white spot on the table is a reflection from the overhead light above it, in case you're wondering.
