I did not see the movie. Just find the visual design to be very colorful and unique... like many of Tim Burton's films.I remember watching the Dark Shadows in 2004 and liking it. But I have never seen the original series so I can't judge how faithful all these versions are.

I can tell you this much about Dark Shadows: you can watch over 20 thirty minute episodes and the plot would only move about an inch.

Yup. Which makes me wonder that if Dark Shadows were to be re-imagined in a far more serious light and if it were completely uncensored what would it be like? And the best answer I think to that is "True Blood" on HBO.

That was exactly what I thought when I first saw "True Blood" too. A small, rural town populated by every kind of monster imaginable, with vampires at the center. Although I wouldn't call TB too serious...

Self-aware sensationalism is the name of the game on that show. It's a soap on steroids. And why not, it works for me. Also, most of the plots have a healthy amount of humor in them and the dialogue.
