WTF? Ptreosaurs aren't skim-feeders, this was among the few marine ones but it would have plunged or plucked fish from water, if it did this it would kill itself.

It's a beautiful paint, but Nyctosaurus didn't have hands and the proportions are way off. I'm not trying to be harsh, but to give you a sense of my point of view... If this was a painting of a dog it would look a bit like a weird bear to everyone else. Palaeoart is about trying to achieve accuracy through the study of the anatomy and habbits of the animals in question.

What he said. I'm afraid that Mark Witton did some research with a model skull and a water tank and discovered that no known pterosaur could possiby have been a skim-feeder. Also, the back prong of the crest was as long as the body (yes, everyone agrees that's daft, but it's what the fossils show) and there probably wasn't a skin sail.

But it's a beautiful, beautiful picture.
