To help the "vegans thrive on pills" myth out of the world, since some people actually believe that we swallow supplemental pills for protein, calcium, iron etc.

Vegetables and fruits contain everything your body needs; protein, calcium, iron etc. Many vegan foods are fortified with B12 and vitamin D, though you can get D from the sun as well, and no one in Western cultures consumes B12 in a natural way like we used to (drinking from rivers, consuming veggies with dirt etc.) Even cattle raised for meat receive supplemental B12 (processed into their feed). It simply makes no sense to filter everything your body needs through an animal before taking it yourself. It's like flushing clean drinking water through the sewers before you drink it; there will be many harmful things in the water as a result, which also counts for filtering your vitamins through an animal. Cholesterol, saturated fat, lactose, mercury and many other things which drastically raise your chance of being struck with heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, (breast-) and other types of cancer and more nasty diseases. If you're interested in the details, consider watching documentary Forks Over Knives (www.forksoverknives.com/ ), which goes into detail about how/why. I think they're on Netflix, though I've seen them on Youtube too somewhere (don't remember). What I like best about this documentary is that they don't just randomly claim stuff, but also show HOW they came to this conclusion in detail. It's also based on peer-reviewed studies.

Eating meat for nutrients is like scalping a person's head because you like their hair colour rather than finding out what dye they use. It's inefficient, environmentally destructive and extremely unhealthy too. Most cancer and heart disease these days can be prevented. It's so sad that most people choose not to.

Aside from that, I don't mean to be mrs. obvious here, but where do you think vitamin supplements are made of? Meat? Animal skulls? No, they're made of plants because plants contain all essential amino acids and therefore all supplements are availible in plant-based version.

And yes, there are plenty of vegans born with allergies, like allergy to nuts, seeds, wheat, soy, certain types of fruit etc. But they are still vegan because there are are over 350,000 plant species in the world, from which about 80,000 are edible for humans.

The funny thing is that most meat eaters are more in need of supplements that vegans. And some need the same we do XD.

Luckily I'm getting my mother to slowly convert to eating mockmeats and eating a b12 supplement.

but fruits and veggies give everyone the vitamins they need, and soy has way more protein than meat. ย Soy pastas, soy milk which tastes freaking amazing its like eggnog and milk combined.

I just wish non vegans would see that being vegan opens up your world to so many tastier and more interesting fruits and vegetables

Oh look, a troll who has no idea how to be civil is replying to a comment I made over 3 years ago, how original.

Look dude, unless you're economically retarded, which I can only assume you are if you think vegan foods are expensive, eating vegan is much cheaper in the long run.ย  Me saving money by eating vegan is WHY I went vegan.

But then again, why waste my time explaining this to you?ย  You're a troll and a bigot, so you're a lot stupider than the average person, and you'll probably just try to respond with something stupid like "Bacon or gtfo" "Vegan are stupid lol" or "BUUUT THE SENTIENT PLLAAAANNNNNTTSSS!!!!"

Plus, people complain about the lack of variety, and I'm like "how".

seriously. Milk is replaced with better tasting soymilk.ย  Cheese is replaced with mock cheese that when melted tastes the same as cheese.ย  Mock meats taste the same or better and there is a crapload of them.ย  the only thing I can think of is that there is no vegan fish replacement for sushi to my knowledge, and I love sushi, but come on, there are plenty of sushi rolls that are all vegetable.

There are over 50 different types of plant based milks. And there's vegan fish replacements, too, although not in every country (yet). My boyfriend owns a sushi restaurant and they have so much more vegan options there than in normal sushi restaurants. It's awesome. It's too bad you live so far away. If you ever go to Holland, visit one of the vegan festivals and we'll let you taste some of our vegan mock fish dishes and sushi.

People always ask me when they learn I'm vegan if I get enough nutrients (this happens AFTER the fact they offer me something non-vegan for dinner at a friends or something and I have to explain why I won't eat it lol).ย  Going vegan is very commonly stereotyped as being inconvenient, when I personally find it the opposite.ย  I always get really excited when I, say, find vegan cheese made with organic materials as a treat.ย  It's almost like a scavenger hunt of goodness!ย
I'm the only vegan in my entire family (my little sister has become a veggie and wants to be a vegan, YAY!) and I always remind myself, "are my taste buds worth the ownership and murdering of other lives?"ย  To me, it's worth the "struggle" in the store.

Yes, the general population is very ignorant about nutrition. But it's not always their fault: they believe the fairytale-commercials of the meat industry; they're just naive and ignorant about the subject. When people ask me where I get my vitamins and nutrients, I always take this as an oppertunity to educate them by simply explaining it.

I agree with you that being vegan is not inconvenient at all. I honestly think I wouldn't have made it (financially) if I didn't become vegan when I moved out of my parents' house. Veganism saves me a hell load of money and prevents me from buying a lot of the most unhealthy crap on the planet I used to buy (canned mercury-filled tuna, several types of candy and cookies, the bloody pus-filled secreations of cows and heart-disease feeding beef) and certainly improved my health that way. Once you know what to buy, the struggle in the store will dissapear and you'll shop as quick as any "regular" costumer. The hardest struggle I had to deal with is not food; it's dealing with ignorant idiots.

No taste is worth taking anothers' life for.

It is really simple, honestly.ย  Another good point to make is where do you think the animals you eat get it from? Hm?ย  Along with it, because of ll the things the meat industry puts into their animals and the environment they are raised in much of our meat has become almost toxic.ย  Usually the conditions are perfect places for bacteria and diseases to breed and grow in. (And besides ourselves, what about the mothers that are turned into burgers after a life of enslavement?)
Exactly; like herbs , fruit and veggies are so expensive, right? lolย  My father, who is a huge meat eater (and sort of a hypocrite) complains about my "criteria," especially when dining out and I choose to stay and make myself something to eat. ย  My mother, thankfully, knows where I'm coming from on the matter.ย  Now realizing it, I haven't seen her eat meat in a very long time.ย  The other complaint people have with going vegan is the "lack of taste" which is quite inaccurate.ย  I cook portabella mushrooms with organic home mad seasoning, eat a lot of different fruits, leafy greens, plant oils, and cook with coconut oil.ย  My little sibling try to steal my food!ย  Hilarious.
Since discovering the truth face to face, in person, I will never go back to eating meat again, and I am MORE than happy with that. ย

Nice to hear. Meat would not be affordable if it wasn't for the absurd amount of subsides these industries receive. Because it takes 5-25 kg of crops (depending on the type animal and the farm) to produce just 1 kg of animal products. Not to mention the absurd amount of land and water. It would make more sense to feed 7 billion people with crops instead of first feeding 58 billion animals first. If animal agriculture ceased to exist, we could feed the entire planet multiple times over. Animal agriculture inefficient in all ways. And people who think vegan food tastes bad just aren't good cooks. They probably think we only eat salad all day long. LMAO!

I'm happy to see that a rising number of people start realizing that they've been fooled by the industries all their lives and change their habits.

Yes, the numbers prove that just in general, not including the lack of decency and moral part on the issue, the butchering of "meat" and collection of animal products is illogical.ย  The amount of grains the industry feeds animals to butcher could solve world hunger.ย  Plus, agriculture is the leading contribute to air pollution and damage to the earth, such as deforestation and water pollution.
That's what my siblings thought!ย  My father just bought a load of salad for me the first time around and nothing else!ย  The majority of food we eat is already vegan, which is really funny.ย  Personally, I actually find the vegan alternatives to other foods BETTER tasting, and they don't cause discomfort after eating or harm to others.ย  (I think my huge thing is when people think dairy and eggs don't harm the animals -_-)ย  The babies!
Me as well!ย  I want to begin creating vegan-promoting art to add to my portfolio and see what I can do to help.ย  My little sister is awake, now time to work on shaking everyone else up! ย  Bingo!ย  I'll need your help, buddy!

This looks like it took you so long to make . Anyways you have done some great research on the subject. Also, there is nothing wrong with taking supplements and many meat eaters take vitamins anyways. So there is really no reason to use the "you have to take supplements" excuse for not being vegan
