i started this one when i was showing a friend how i do my own digital art. I decided I'd do her favorite hetalia character and she said France. So voila! We now have another france fanart in our midst. It's also te reason why he's just standing there. I'm trying to break away but i wanted to do something easier. Of course he almost looked like a vampire. Thank goodness for photoshop!Go ahead and tell my the good and crappy. It can only

Overall I think this is a beautiful image. I love the way you've coloured it, the colours are vibrant (and totally suit France; OMG, that man's as bright and attention grabbing as the fuchia background behind him) and I adore the way you've done his jacket and hands. Especially his hands. Just how you've put them together is freakin' awesome
I also love how you've coloured his face. His eyes and the blush on his cheeks especially. His eyes are just really seductive looking and the blush (not to mention the pinky-purple background) makes him seem waaay more innocent than we know he is. But it suits; I kind of think of it as his way of luring unsuspecting prey suitors to his side.
I'm even more impressed because you did this all on one layer. I swear when I read that, it blew me away.
But onto the actual critique!
France's proportions are a little out of whack. I think his head's just about the right width, but it could do with a bit of lengthening. Because it's rather short from cheek to chin it kind of looks like you've stuck an extremely hairy child's head onto an adult's body.
His left forearm is rather short as well. It looks really awkward. I reckon if you'd have raised his elbow so that it was up between his fifth and sixth button (down the canvas-wise) it'd look less awkward. His bicep seems pretty good in length, but you'd have to angle it outward more to suit.
His right hand could do with a little shrinking too. But just a bit. I think that if you made his head longer it'd have been less noticable.
I reckon France's buttons should be darker where they're hidden in shadow. Perhaps go over them with midnight blue or some other type of dark blue? They just seem to be sticking out from the rest of his clothes.
So proportions and the buttons are the things I'd keep an eye out for in the future. But despite them, you've done this really well.

Okay, this is my first critique, hope I don't get too picky ^^
The picture itself gives a very positive feeling, and the guy is sexy enough to drool over it. The red rose always adds hotness to every picture~~
The lineart and proportions seem perfectly fine to me.
The coloring goe to an impressive level in the face and hair, and the blush is a nice touch.
HOWEVER, I think the background is too bright for a sexy scene. I would have chosen a darker color, like some darker purple, granate or brownish-red. Also, the clothes need some texture, which could have been added by applying more layers of shading and bright.

haha. well i do only work on one layer but yeah. Texture has never been my friend. i should try to work with it more~ And darker probably would be better. hhaha. or if you want reaaally sexy I shoulda done him nakid on a bed of burgendy sheets with the rose in his mouth and a really dark almost black background, and looking like fire light was one him~ *drools*

Also, working in more than a layer makes your work easy, but I guess it's each one's taste (lol I usually use 50+ layers to finish a normal-sized picture...)

XD maybe when i find time. Something darker for france is planned though as part of my parts of history project. Not sure if I'll do him or england next though~ Or maybe russia... china'll likely be last though.
HAAH i know it's supposed to make things easier. I just... forget a lot to change layers so i usually figure eh, one layer. xD I'm bad.

haha. yay for one layer! lol. I just never remember. I'll occasionally use another layer but i tend to merge them down to the one when I'm sure i have it right. Unless i think something really bad might happen to it that i need it on another layer basically.

The only thing I could critique on here is the hands, they seems to be rushed. But I don't think I would have noticed if you didn't ask for crits XD I mean, they're not an essential part of the pic, but you see it if you stare :V
